Hi everyone!
Please bear with me, as I try to keep posting while we are constantly traveling here in the USA.
Open House
We had a wonderful time yesterday at the open house in Westminster, MA. We were so happy to see friends from Connecticut to Maine turn out to join us. The time flew by as we enjoyed introducing everyone to each other, talking about Haiti and catching up on each other’s activities. We were blessed with lots of food, including my favorite: corn on the cob. Many people got to enjoy a walk to the pond and even some “boating.” Lex and I are so grateful for each one of you and the role that you fill in God’s plan and purpose in MOHI. Thank you for your support.
Peanut Butter Drive
Peanut butter continues to come in. Our friend Chel Finn has instigated a competition among some of the fire departments. I hear UPS trucks are carrying heavy boxes of peanut butter to the stations regularly. Thank you!!!! There’s still time to get your donations in. We will be back in Ohio this week, Pennsylvania next week, Connecticut the week after and back to Massachusetts after that. Please contact me by email at renee@mohintl.org or by phone at 978-894-6022 to arrange a drop of time or location. Donations can also be sent to Gloria Harvell at 32 Katalina Ln, Nashua, NH 03064.
$160,000 to Go in Phase 1
To date, we have spent over $500,000 on the first phase of construction in Thozin. Prior to the earthquake, that money may well have built several school campuses, but we can’t build the way we used to. This building has been engineered by Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, an international engineering firm which has worked pro-bono with us for the past year and a half on this project. The architectural designer, Paul Fallon, has been working with us for two weeks each month and has literally supervised much of the construction personally. Dozens of visiting missionaries have had a hand in the work, along we about 300 Haitian men and high school students. The shell is up. Now it’s time to do all the finish work. Our goal is to have our students move in after Christmas break is over. Please pray, give and share this need with others to help us to raise the necessary funds to reach this goal.
Ohio, Here We Come
Shout Out to all our Ohio friends, the Edmé clan will be arriving in Akron on Tuesday. Drop me a line or give me a call to make sure we get to see each other. We are all excited about this opportunity to be with friends, once again.
