Back in the States

Back in America, we are seriously making tracks.  We arrived in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday.  We had an incredible lobster dinner with Peter and Esther Plastridge who have been our friends and supporters for over fifteen years.  We enjoyed a restful night in their home before beginning our trek north to Massachusetts.

Thank you Peter and Esther!!!

We arrived at our home away from home Thursday evening.  Lennie and Amy Engman have been opening their home to our family for the past fifteen years.  We are so grateful for their faithful support all this time!

Yesterday we met with a group from West Newbury Congregational Church.  They have a team of 25 coming to MOHI in January.  It was fun to see old friends and meet some of the new team members.  We also got to coordinate a little with those who are going to be volunteering with us at Soulfest.

Ross Dobson from Sir Isaac advertising agency met up with us there.  He and his staff have worked tirelessly in designing our printed and video materials for Soulfest.  Ross brought everything to us.  The tee shirts and tank tops look great!  You’ll have to visit our test at Soulfest to see my favorite item.

Today we finally got to meet our little man, Micah.  Congratulations once again to Huguener and Jackie on his birth.  You guys are off to a great start!  We also enjoyed our time at Chair City Community Church’s service this morning.  Pastor Dave and Kristi Tralongo have been such a great support to this new little family.  We are always encouraged  by Dave’s preaching.  Today’s message on the Game of Life was practical and definitely applicable in our own lives.

Back in Haiti, the work continues in our absence.  This is a good thing!!!  We have worked for the past fifteen years training up an awesome team of leaders who know how to step up in our absence.

Gardith has been doing a great job of running the medical clinic from an administrative perspective. Tummy aches, rashes, aches and pains are being treated each day. Even well baby checks are happening. Praise God!

This seems almost uneventful, but it is MAJOR: All of our high school seniors passed their national exams again this year! This was our 5th senior class and our record remains the same, 100% pass National exams! It is extremely unusual for a school to have this happen once, nevermind 5 years running. We are so proud of our students, staff and parents who work together so diligently to make this happen. Hats off to all of you!!!

We had a major food distribution in the village of Petit Paradis (aka Little Paradise) the day before we left for the States.  We are so grateful for the Lord’s provision so that we are able to do things like this.  There are so many, especially children, who go to bed at night hungry.  A packet of food will help today.  Education will help these kids grow up with the tools to become employable and entrepreneurs – to feed and provide for their own families.  That’s the vision we have for this community.

Will you be attending Soulfest 2015?

Please stop by our tent and say hello!  Let us know that you read the blog and why you continue to do so.  Visit our workshops on Saturday afternoon at 1 and 4 o’clock.  Lex, Alexis, AJay and I will be sharing tips about how to survive and thrive in a short term missions trip.  We’re hoping to get lots of questions and trusting we’ll have some good answers to share.

To all of you who pray for our family – THANK YOU!  Would you please remember us in prayer this week?  We are really excited to be a part of Soulfest.  This is a big deal for us, with lots of details to manage.  We’re trusting the Lord for divine connections throughout the festival.
