This was an amazing, whirlwind week! We were so blessed to have two teams with us. One from Clay, Kentucky and the other from Charlotte, NC.
The team from Kentucky worked on repairing, cleaning, labeling and organizing library books. They also worked at the restaurant in St. Etienne and on the foundations for two new homes. They were a blessing during our worship services, as they accompanied our worship team on keyboard and guitar.
The team from Charlotte (Bless Back Worldwide) focused on running a soccer camp. What a wonderful time it was for the children in the village of Ti Paradi. At the end they recognized each of the 120 participants with a certificate and soccer ball. It’s a day to rejoice when a group of 20 kids gets a soccer ball to share. Imagine the excitement that all these kids experienced at getting their own ball!
Even though school is out, our community of Thozin is still benefiting from the MOHI medical clinic. It seems Angela ends up with help every week. This week Dr. Ludwig and his wife Farah conducted dental screenings for several hundred of our students. Katie, who was visiting the Hands and Feet Project worked alongside Angela one morning, too.
Improvements continued at the missionary compound (aka Cayes Mirliton) with painting, detailing on part of the wall and finishing the new rock pathway between houses.
Peter and Janina are heading back to Germany this week, so they have been scrambling to get as much done as possible on the restaurant.
What a joy it was for Lex and I yesterday to welcome our friend and adviser, Pastor Dan Lee back to Haiti. Dan has been instrumental in developing MOHI since shortly after we started. He always has ideas and unique insights to share with us and we never leave an encounter with him without feeling stretched. His visit is very short, but we are so glad that he was able to be a part of our annual conference.
We had a wonderful conference! This was our 14th year!
