HOPE FM
Pastor Edon announced at church this morning that next week’s service will be our first live broadcast on our new radio station, HOPE FM. We have been wanting to start a radio station for a while. We filed papers and looked for organizations that would like to help us out, but this really had nothing to do with any of our work. This station was already in existence. The director is planning to leave the country for about a year and needed someone to take it over for him.
Hope FM will be a community radio station, based out of the Mission of Hope International community in Grand-Goâve. It will have educational and evangelical programming, along with Christian music. Pastor Edon has been involved in a lot of radio programs over the past few years. He will be responsible for all program scheduling, as well as choosing DJs and other workers.
This is a huge undertaking. Our hopes are high. We are expecting good things for our community through this radio station. Please join us in prayer, asking the Lord to touch many lives with His love and grace through this ministry. If you would like to contribute to the start up costs of this project, please visit our donations page to make a tax-deductible contribution.
Paul Fallon, Architect Extraordinaire
It has been so helpful to have Paul Fallon here in Haiti over the past year. After the earthquake, Paul and his son, Andy, spent a week with us putting up transitional shelters in Grand-Goave. One afternoon Lex asked him to sketch out an idea for reconstructing our school/church property in Thozin, since much of what was there had been badly damaged. We had no idea this would turn into a year of regular visits to Grand-Goave for Paul.
Paul has worn many hats during his time here. He has ensured that the engineering plans have been followed, taught masons, carpenters and laborers proper construction practices and shared his love of knowledge and people with ourselves and our staff. Paul’s year commitment in Haiti with Mission of Hope International and Be Like Brit officially ends tomorrow, as he heads back to Massachusetts.
Paul shared a few words at church this morning, starting with Luke 6:48, “He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.” (NKJV) It was obvious that Paul feels really good about the building that he designed and helped to construct, but he also feels good about the people he met along the way.
Here’s a little of what he had to say, “You are lucky here at Mission of Hope because you have Lex Edme, a truly inspired leader. He is a man of great faith as well as a man of great action. He is firm in what he believes, he is unwavering in his devotion to Jesus, and he guides this congregation with a clear vision. But Lex is not just a man of faith; he is a man of wisdom…” “I have known Lex for many years now. I love him very much. I am thankful for the opportunity he gave me to come to Grand Goave and work among you. You are some of the finest people I have ever met and you have allowed me to do some of the finest work I have ever done…”
We are so grateful to God for opening the door for Paul to come to Haiti and be an integral part of this construction project. The phase 1 structural work in complete. We have a lot of finish work to do, but we are thrilled to know that this building was built to specifications that will allow it to stand as a safe harbor for thousands in the years ahead.
Before and After
It’s fun to look back and see how we started and where we’re at today. God will continue to move us forward. It’ll be wild to see where we are in another decade!

.Class Sponsorship
Would you like to make a difference in the lives of kids in Haiti? We are now offering “class sponsorship” for those who would like to impact the education of the next generation of Haitian young people. Sponsorship funds go directly to the costs involved in a particular class: teacher salaries, supplies, program costs (such as medical care and food). Class sponsorship is a great way to reach out to the children of Haiti for families, schools, churches, youth groups and businesses. There are four levels of sponsorship, from $10 to $100 per month per class. For more detailed information, please feel free to contact our Director of Sponsorship, Gloria Harvell at (603) 801-0530 or click contact us.

Christmas Gifts for Haitian Children and Your Loved Ones
Visit our Gift Shop to give a child a gift on behalf of someone special to you. Choose from items like goats, fruit trees, soccer balls, sewing machines and bicycles. Every one of these gifts are guaranteed to be met with smiles and thrills, for each item would be considered a special gift to most any child in Haiti. If you’re like me, you don’t want to spend money on a gift that will be received with a polite “thank you”, but no joy. Giving a gift on behalf of your loved one means you bless a child with something very meaningful, while blessing your loved one. At the same time, you will feel blessed and, well, Lex and I will be blessed by hand delivering the gift for you. Order by December 15th and we will send your loved one a greeting card and picture of the child who received this special gift on their behalf.

Clinicians of the World
A medical team of twelve spent the week with us here in Haiti. They held medical clinics for the Jeanty and Thozin communities, passed out worm medicines, educated students about sanitation and built a latrine. This team had three Haitian Creole speakers on it. It was great fun and a great service to the people of Grand-Goave.
