Construction Update

We continue to apply the finish coat of plaster in the classrooms and hallways.  As you can see in the pictures, the classrooms on the west side are almost ready to be painted.  The east side is now all staged and the masons are moving right along with the finish work there.  Donations have started to come in for purchasing electrical supplies to install the wiring lights in the new school.  To all of you who have given, thank you sooooooo much!!!!  If you wanted to be a part, you still have this week.  We are grateful to Granite State Electric for offering to give us a huge discount on everything we need.  We’d like to ship by the end of the month.

MOHI School construction in Thozin, Grand-Goâve, Haïti

A Place of Refreshing

It’s really encouraging to see more and more missionaries coming together to fellowship and work together here in the Grand-Goave area.  I was thinking about it during the morning worship service in Thozin this morning.  In addition to Mission of Hope International, we had representatives join us from the Hands and Feet Project, Help4Haiti, Be Like Brit, Seeds of Hope and Bless Back Worldwide – all worshipping God together.  We’re looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving with many others at the MOHI missionary compound on Thursday, too!

Here’s a little clip from this morning.  Most of it is in English, with Pastor Kevin Groder.

Kevin & Tammy Groder

Lex, Renée, Tammy and Kevin

Everyone at MOHI in Haiti loves to see Pastor Kevin arrive in Grand-Goave.  We enjoy watching him work really hard at speaking Kreyol with us and his willingness to roll up his sleeves and get dirty.  Kevin has played a major role at MOHI for the past twelve years.  We are excited to be partnering with Kevin and his wife, Tammy, in ministry, as they launch Help4Haiti.  They will be focusing on community development, small business and church leadership training (utilizing the International School of Ministry curriculum in Kreyol, which we have been using the past year), while working and living with us here at MOHI.

Bless Back Worldwide

This family (Mark & Cindy, Clare, Matthew and Drew) is part of the Bless Back Worldwide team. Here they are on top of the school being constructed in Thozin.

We have been anticipating the arrival of a medical team from Bless Back Worldwide.  They arrived safely last night, from North Carolina.  They spent some time this afternoon preparing for tomorrow’s medical clinic.  There are two MDs, a PA and three RNs, along with some non-medical folks.  It’s going to be a great week of helping hundreds who may otherwise not receive the medical attention they need.  This will also be an opportunity to show people how much God loves them by both word and deed.
